Domestic Violence

Domestic violence is as much as ten times higher for Native American women than women in the rest of the country, according to the Indian Law Resource Center. https://indianlaw.org/issue/ending-violence-against-native-women. Four in five American Indian and Alaska Native women have experienced violence, and one out of two are victims of sexual violence.

Any violence against women including dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking puts them, their children and their families at risk, and native children of abused mothers have rates of PSTD three times higher than the rest of the general population. Domestic violence has a devastating impact on Indian families and their communities.

The Tulalip Tribes are committed to a safe, healthy and non-violent community for all tribal members and the Legacy of Healing Advocacy Center provides broad advocacy services for domestic and dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.
